Preaching the Whole Counsel of God and Jesus Christ Crucified, Risen, and Coming Again

Calvary Church is an evangelical, Bible-believing, Reformed, and Presbyterian church.

By "evangelical" we mean that we believe in the good news (Greek: ευαγγελιον evangelion). Other religions basically offer advice or direction about how to climb to God. Christianity offers news about what God has done to bring us to Himself through the death of Christ for sinners and His resurrection from the dead.

By "Bible-believing" we mean that we believe that all 66 books of the Bible, not more or less, are the Word of God, without error, and completely dependable to show us the way of salvation and how to live. The term Orthodox in the title of our denomination simply means “straight teaching,” that is, straight from the Bible. We believe strongly in the biblical story of creation, in the value of all human life, in the importance of parents’ involvement in the education of their children, and in the family as a divinely ordained building block in the church and society.

By "Reformed" we mean that we agree with the major doctrines of the Protestant Reformation--that man is saved by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone (we are not saved in any way by our works, will, or efforts), to the glory of God alone (if we do anything to save ourselves, we deserve credit, but we don’t, so only God deserves honor and praise); and our guide for what to believe and what to do is Scripture alone (not man’s opinions).

By "Presbyterian" we mean that we agree with the Bible that elders (Greek: πρεσβυτερος presbyteros) should lead God’s church. It is God’s design for churches to be led by groups of elders (Acts 14). In addition, we believe the New Testament teaches, for example in Acts 15, that churches should be connected to each other. We are a part of the Orthodox Presbyterian group of churches.
