We are a community of Center City Philadelphia residents; a non-profit organization linking neighbor to neighbor. We offer educational and social programs, volunteer provided services and referrals to preferred providers to build a supportive and vital community.

Join Us

Neighbors join Penn's Village as donor or service members, and as volunteers. All receive Penn’s Village updates and newsletters, attend educational, cultural and social events and can be referred to a fully vetted preferred service provider upon request. Donor memberships are fully tax deductible. Service members also have access to services provided by volunteers. We have a wide range of fulfilling volunteer opportunities. Although we encourage volunteers to become members, this is not a requirement.

Our Caregiver Support Group

We are very excited to have started our first support group. This telephone support group, coordinated by an experienced social worker, allows members caring for a sick or disabled family member to exchange information and discuss concerns and feelings without having to leave their homes. Although this group is full, please let Avalie know if you are interested in joining a caregiver telephone support group or have ideas for future support groups.

Help Us Design Our Member Health Advisory Program

As we plan for 2013, the Penn's Village Board of Directors would like your opinion on potential areas of focus. This short survey is designed to obtain your level of interest in services related to certain aspects of health care and health care decision making. Your responses will remain anonymous.

From the Membership Application

Membership is $600 annually
Penn’s Village is a non-profit organization created to enhance the quality of life of residents in Center City Philadelphia neighborhoods by providing and linking members to supportive services and providing social and educational opportunities. Penn’s Village has arranged for screened volunteers, when they are available, to provide certain services at no additional charge to members. Penn’s Village has performed background checks on volunteers. We have also compiled a list of vetted, preferred service providers who will charge members directly for their services, often at negotiated rates. Although Penn’s Village will facilitate your contacts with preferred service providers, you will contract directly with them; you and/or your insurance company will be billed for their services. Penn’s Village will monitor services provided to members to ensure a consistent level of quality. Although we strive to provide members with the services they request, Penn’s Village cannot take the place of a health care provider, an assisted living facility or nursing home for those who require medical care or custodial services.

Volunteer With Penn's Village

Volunteers are integral members of the Penn’s Village team. Whether volunteers have direct contact with members or assist behind the scenes, they enhance the work of Penn’s Village and thus strengthen our community

We have a variety of volunteer opportunities to suit different interests, skills, talents and schedules. Volunteers provide direct support to members such as transportation to physician appointments and grocery stores and assistance with at home tasks such as gardening, organization and computer set up. Volunteers also support our Village administration and structure, helping out in the Penn's Village office, organizing social and educational activities and participating in the work of Board Working Committees.

Penn’s Village hosts regular volunteer training sessions. Volunteers are screened through reference and background checks through IntelliCorp.

Volunteer Drivers

Penn's Village drivers are asked to use their own cars. All drivers must agree to a driving record check and provide Penn's Village with a copy of their insurance card and license.

How it Works

Member service requests are emailed to volunteers and volunteers respond back by email if they would like to complete the request. Penn's Village can also contact volunteers by telephone if email is not an option. There is no required time commitment.

We are always looking for enthusiastic volunteers. If you are interested please email or call us: info@pennsvillage.org or 215 925 7333.
