The Family Thrift Shop

Robert McCormac, owner of The Thrifty Irishman Thrift Store, is known for his love of community. His store's Winter Coat and Christmas Toy Giveaways were huge hits and greatly appreciated by those to benefitted from the generosity.

On the evening of April 7th, 2019, the sky lit up as the store’s massive 60,000 square-foot building at 2226 E. Butler Street in Port Richmond was leveled by fire. An estimated 150 firefighters worked on the 4-alarm blaze all night long. While walking though the ruins of his store on April 19th, 2019, McCormac seemed to have one thing on his mind – rebuilding. “I’ll be back, I’ll be back,” he told the Juniata News. “You can put that in writing.”

While he plans to open the full thrift store in March of 2021, Flea Market Vendors are being sought now for events on Saturdays and Sundays beginning in December 2020.
