My MilkCrate introduces itself with the line, "Discover businesses that share your values," and gives the following descriptive information:

At MilkCrate, we encourage both individuals and whole communities to rally around making sustainable lifestyle choices.
My MilkCrate — a directory tool that connects people to local, green businesses.
My MilkCrate’s database is built using two streams of listings- the first is from our partner organizations and the second is through vetted online submissions.

My MilkCrate has partnered with aligned non profits like the Sustainable Business Network, Fair Food, Humane League, Delaware Valley Green Building Council, Philadelphia Area Cooperative Alliance, The Energy Co-op, and B Corp to bring together lists and membership directories of sustainable local businesses. Each certification is identified in My MilkCrate as a "badge" that is assigned to the appropriate business. As we expand to new areas and make new partnerships, our database and badges will grow.

Our online submissions are vetted using questions pulled from the B Corp Impact Assessment. The questions ask about the organization’s locality, sustainable business practices, purchasing policies, and their mission. Businesses that apply to My MilkCrate are encouraged to upgrade to a Premium Listing as well as to apply for membership with our partner organizations to enhance their presence in the app and attract our passionate audience’s attention.
