The Melanated Educators Collective (MEC) along with the Caucus of Working Educators recognizes the critical need for African American educators nationwide.

In Philadelphia, MEC is attempting to work with the School District of Philadelphia in order to ensure that our schools are filled with quality educators who reflect the student body.
Creating a curriculum rich in cultural awareness, historical accuracy, and high expectations taught by educators with a genuine care and concern for the children and the community is a goal of MEC.
