The Barbershop Talk Human Family Day Foundation gives the following descriptive information:

Founded in 1995 by Woody's Barber ShopRobert Woodard, Barbershop Talk Human Family Day Foundation, Inc. became an outgrowth of Barbershop Talk Network. We are a community-based organization that uses the barbershop as a forum to dialogue with visitors from around the world. For five years, we hosted Barbershop Talk on WURD 900 AM, Thursdays from 9:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. As a result, our listening audience broadened, expanding our involvement and purpose nationally.

We recognize that the most significant factor that superseded our physical differences and binds us, one person to another, is the “human” element. We believe that each of us has a personal responsibility to uplift the self-worth of all human beings and embrace diversity as a positive aspect of our existence. Throughout the year, we collaborate with a variety of community organizations, health professionals, business community, educational institutions and individuals with whom we network in search of potential participants, vendors and sponsors for a human family day observance. What we do, Barbershop Talk Human Family Day Foundation, Inc., is host annual Human Family Day events for the purpose of bringing together communities to help cultivate respect for and an appreciation of all human beings. Annually, April 4th is the day of observance while the celebration is held on a following Sunday. Cultures that represent communities from around the world have an opportunity to showcase the richness of their traditions and contribute personal experiences. Programming includes educational/interactive activities in the following areas: “Health is Wealth” Symposium, “Good Neighbor of the Year” Award, Visual Arts & Interpretation Performing Arts: Theatrical, Musical and Dance, Unique Business Participation Class sessions led by specific area specialists, Local Video Taping, Culinary Arts, Tasting Demonstrations and Vendor Participation. We extend a special thanks for your continued support and invite you to join us again this year for a activity-filled day of learning, fellowship and networking.
