Holmesburg is a Northeast Philadelphia neighborhood. It is bounded on the northeast by Linden Avenue, on the southeast by the Delaware River, on the southwest by Cottman Avenue, and on the northwest by Rowland Avenue, Cresco Avenue, Pennypack Park, and Frankford Avenue.

Alternative Description: The Holmesburg Civic Association describes its boundaries: "Beginning at Cottman Ave at the Delaware River; then along the north side of Cottman Ave to Frankford Ave; then along the east side of Frankford Ave to Sheffield Ave; then along the north side of Sheffield Ave to Pennypack Creek; then along the winding courses of Pennypack Creek to the Delaware River; then along the west bank of the Delaware River to the beginning at Cottman Ave."

Alternative Description: The Upper Holmesburg Civic Association describes its boundaries: "Upper Holmesburg is a neighborhood in Northeast Philadelphia. West: Both sides of Frankford Avenue, between Pennypack Creek (Solly Ave.) to Linden Avenue. East: Delaware River, between Pennypack Path and Linden Avenue. South: North Side of Pennypack Creek from (Solly Ave.) and Frankford Avenue, east to State Road South on State Road (east side only) to Pennypack Path to the Delaware River. North: South side only of Linden Avenue, between Frankford Ave to the Delaware River.

Adjoining Neighborhoods

Holmesburg is bounded on the northeast by Torresdale, on the southwest by Tacony and Mayfair, and on the northwest by Mayfair, Pennypack Park, and Torresdale.
