Changing Lives Through Literacy

Community Learning Center (CLC) is a top performing adult literacy nonprofit organization that serves low income adults in Philadelphia. Our learning sites are located in North Philadelphia and West Philadelphia. Founded by Jean Fleschute in 1987 with 67 students, the CLC established as a non-profit 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization in 1994. Today, CLC provides its free classes and services to more than 700 adult learners each year.

CLC provides free high school equivalency, workforce development, and English as a Second Language classes to low-income adults seeking to change their lives through education and employment. Our goal is to help our students learn the skills they need to gain employment, continue on to post-secondary programs, and enter job training programs.
