There are several ways in the Philadelphia area to donate a computer.

Pentium-4 computers, working or not, can be donated to Nonprofit Technology Resources (NTR - see Donation Guidelines) as charitable donations, and lots of computers may be picked up by NTR.

Goodwill Industries and Best Buy have arranged computer drop-off locations in the area.

The TechSoup Donate Hardware List can arrange to route large lots to appropriate organizations.

Many small computer repair shops will take computers and refurbish them for sale.

Single working computers can be posted via Philadelphia Freecycle.

Security

In all cases the donato should either keep the donated computer';s hard drive or ensure that the receiver will erase the data that is on it. NTR, for example, separates the hard drives at receipt and completely re-images them before any use.
