Helen Hale gives the following descriptive information:

Helen Hale Dance is devoted to making robust rockin' gorgeous movement medicine, with a spirited blend of Southern twang, magical realism, Greek drama, and modern savvy. Helen Hale Dance navigated the absurdities, wonder, and pathos of life through the creation and sharing of ceremonial tonics crafted to revive the spirit, stir the soul, leap the fences and cultivate health within the individual body and cultural ecosystem.

Helen Hale is a dance maker, embodiment scholar, amateur philosopher, player, rhyme sayer, over-thinker, and plant enthusiast. She is the director of Helen Hale Dance and one half of Ginkgo, with Maggie Ginestra. Helen's work has been presented by the High Museum of Art, Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia, Galleries at Moore, Hambidge Center, Dance Truck, Dashboard, The Lucky Penny, Spark and Echo Arts, Kun-Yang Lin/Dancers, Temple University, and WonderRoot, among others.

Helen currently resides in Philadelphia, where she has a living room with no furniture and a wall covered in surprising beveled glass mirror tiles. Dubbed Ginkgo Parlor, this little row home space doubles as a small rehearsal studio and hosts a series of salon-style performances and gatherings.

Educated by a rogue group of artists, activists, and cultural shamans in inner-city Atlanta, GA., Helen migrated North to wrangle her BFA through study at Temple University (PA) and Hellenic International Studies in the Arts (Greece). She has since been honored to collaborate and perform with a bounty of incredible artists around the country including Kun-Yang Lin/Dancers, Nichole Canuso Dance Company, Carnival de Resistance, Staibdance, Dishman + Co., PushPush Theater, Tahni Holt, Team Sunshine Performance Corporation, Protect Awesome, Duende Dance Theater, Meg Foley/Moving Parts, Gathering Wild, Troupe Hellas, Ground Delivery Dance Theater, and the Just Act Ensemble.

When not in studio mode Helen can be found loitering near flowers, being feisty, working her other part-time jobs, and longing for the sea.
