University City District is a partnership of world-renowned anchor institutions, small businesses and residents that creates opportunity, and improves economic vitality and quality of life in the University City area of West Philadelphia. Our primary mission is community revitalization. We work within a place-based, data-driven framework to invest in world-class public spaces, address crime and public safety, bring life to commercial corridors, connect low-income residents to careers, and promote job growth and innovation. - See more at: http://www.universitycity.org/about#sthash.AbtYVAue.dpuf

About:

University City was Philadelphia's first suburb, and it remains home to distinctive, livable urban neighborhoods of wide porches, tree-lined streets, restaurants and cafes, and shops. World-renowned centers of education, medicine, and technology and residents of diverse backgrounds lend University City its intellectual and international flavor. Our galleries, museums, and theaters feature exhibitions and performances from across the nation and around the world. Although the six colleges and universities located here earned the area the "University City" name, just like all cities, University City hums 365 days of the year.

Where We Stand:

University City boundaries are, on the east, 29th Street and the Schuylkill River; on the west, 50th Street; on the north, Spring Garden Street (to 40th Street), Powelton Avenue (to 44th Street), and Market Street; and on the south, Civic Center Boulevard, University Avenue and Woodland Avenue.

With its funky vibe and unique spirit, University City is one of Philadelphia's most vibrant and diverse neighborhoods. Located on the west side of downtown Philadelphia, the area is a hotbed of education, science, medicine and research. This dynamic, close-knit community is home to college students, artists, and families who coexist amid world-class universities, dining, nightlife and cultural offerings.
