Weavers Way Co-op gives the following descriptive information:

Weavers Way is a cooperative food market open to the public. Because of the dedication of our members and neighbors throughout the years, Jules Timerman’s tiny buying club has gone far beyond what he imagined back in the summer of ’73. It’s wonderful to think how it has become an integral part of the rich fabric of Northwest Philadelphia today. The International Co-op Principles are the basis of our value system, and we strive to apply them at all levels – from working toward a better Earth to making a shopper happy with a friendly smile.

Our mission as a co-op is to provide high-quality, fairly priced foods and a broader understanding of their importance to our members and community. We have an ongoing commitment to serve and forge a bond between local sustainable food producers and the co-op community.

The co-op is described by PACA as follows:

Weavers Way Co-op is a long established Philadelphia food co-op. Founded in the early 1970’s, Weavers Way has grown exponentially from its initial location in a small, rented deli to its four retail locations today. Located in Northwest Philadelphia, there are currently over 5,000 households who are member-owners of the co-op, representing more than 10,000 people. Weavers Way is also intentional about supporting and sourcing local, sustainable foods and has two local CSA farms which both sell food and offer educational initiatives.
