Founded in 1878, we have reached out to the homeless in Philadelphia for more than 140 years. Originally named the Sunday Breakfast Association, our name was changed a few years ago to reflect our expanded services as a Rescue Mission. Rescue Missions are similar to a traditional homeless shelter, but focus on caring for the spiritual needs in addition to the practical needs of people.

The Mission adds:<blockquote>We offer the following services for homeless individuals:<br><br>''Meals and shelter:'' Since its founding in 1878, meals have been an essential service provided by the Mission to the disadvantaged men, women, and children in Philadelphia. Sunday Breakfast Rescue Mission provides 3 meals a day every single day of the year to any one in need, and it serves the most meals to the homeless indoors than any other program in Center City Philadelphia.<br><br>In addition to serving meals, the Mission provides emergency homeless shelter to men in our community. The mission provides 200 beds to those in need, and provides cots in the event overflow beds are needed during busy times or extreme weather conditions.<br><br>The Mission also offers a host of health clinics. Each week a nurse from PHMC spends a day caring for the homeless. Every other week Medical students from Thomas Jefferson University host a comprehensive medical clinic and a nurse from PHMC hosts a foot clinic. The Mission also provides weekly HIV testing and Hepatitis testing.<br><br>''Men's recovery program:'' The Overcomer Program is the Mission 8-12 month men’s recovery program. This Bible based residential program can support up to 40 men at a time. This program focuses on total life transformation through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Men’s program includes Bible studies, life skills classes, educational classes, and vocational training. Every graduate of the Overcomer Program is on the road to self-sufficiency.<br><br>''Women's transitional housing program:'' The Women’s program at Wayne Hall is located in the Germantown neighborhood in Philadelphia. The program at Wayne Hall is an 8-12 month transitional housing program. This Bible based residential program focuses on total life transformation through the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The women in this program attend Bible studies and life skills classes. Every graduate of the Wayne Hall Program is on the road to self sufficiency.</blockquote>
