Category Checklist

This category checklist is aimed at helping Wikidelphia staff and volunteer editors do complete categorization for every page. It also has some suggestions for other things to include.

For All Wikidelphia Pages

__ Add the general type: Is-Nonprofit_Organization, Is-Business, Is-Individual, or the like.

__ Post a photo if you can get one directly from the website without violating anybody's copyright.

__ Add contact name and email if found on the website.

__ Add a Where category if applicable.

__ If the organization uses an acronym, include it in the page title in parentheses, e.g., "Friends of the Wissahickon (FOW)".

For Arts Organizations

__ Consider including their performance calendar, if they have one, with the category Does-Event_Calendar.

__ Consider adding a Teaches category, because many arts orgs give lessons and classes.

For Businesses

__ Consider adding Is-Store.

__ Consider adding what it Sells and/or Makes.

For Churches

__ Add an Info link to the church's Programs or Ministries page if it has one.

__ Add Is-Church and the Is-Church-____ category for its denomination.

__ Add a Where category for the place's location.

__ Add a "Live Stream" Info link, if the church does that.

For Civic Assns./Neighborhood Assns./CDCs

__ Add type: Is-Civic_Association, Is-Neighborhood_Association, Is-Community_Development_Corporation, or the like.

__ Consider adding Is-Registered_Community_Organization and Issue-Zoning.

__ Add Where-[the neighborhood].

__ Add Issue-Community; Is-Nonprofit_Organization.

__ Consider adding Is-Membership_Organization with a "join" link added to Info.

__ Probably add Serves-Neighborhood_Residents.

__ Consider adding Using-Volunteers with a "Volunteer" link added to Info.

__ Add an Info link to the organization's Programs page if it has one.

For Co-ops

__ If the org's site has it, add an Info link, "Membership", to its membership page, the page where a visitor can sign up to join, and add the category Is-Membership_Organization.

For Events

__ Consider including Is-Recurring_Event, Is-Annual_Event.

__ Include Frequency-____, if the website clearly includes, e.g., "every September".

__ Consider including Is-Nonprofit_Organization_Program.

__ Consider including a Where category.

For Museums

__ Include Is-Museum.

__ Include museum subtype if applicable, e.g., Is-Historic_House_Museum.

__ Probably include Is-Nonprofit_Organization. (For a few museums, Is-Business is more applicable.)

__ Probably don't include Is-Membership_Organization, because museum membership doesn't usually involve active participation, e.g., in running the place or voting on officers.

__ Consider adding what the museum Teaches.

__ Consider adding Does-Digital_Collection with an Info link to the collection.

For Nonprofit Organizations

__ If the org has a volunteer page, add Using-Volunteers with a link to the page.

__ Consider adding Does-Internships with an Info link to the org's internships page.

__ If the org has an active, up-to-date event calendar page, add a link under Info and add the category Does-Event_Calendar.

__ If the org has a separate page where you can sign up to receive an email Newsletter, and the newsletter appears to be still publishing, add an "Email Newsletter" link to Info, and add category Does-Newsletter_Via_Email.

__ Consider adding an Online Store link and category.

For Nonprofit Organization Programs

__ Include a See Also link to the nonprofit org of which the program is a part.

For Park Support Organizations

__ Consider adding Is-Registered_Community_Organization and Issue-Zoning.
