Philadelphia Works describes itself as follows:

Philadelphia Works connects employers to a skilled workforce and helps individuals develop the skills needed to thrive in the workplace. The Philadelphia Workforce Investment Board and the Philadelphia Workforce Development Corporation merged in 2012 to create Philadelphia Works.

What we do:

• Fund and provide technical assistance on career guidance, job training, and job placement services offered by one-stop centers.
• Offer employers wage subsidies, employee training and re-training assistance, and work with them to help employees who have been laid off.
• Conduct research on employment and workforce trends and provide our findings to businesses, policy makers, service providers and the media.
• Promote public policy that meets the needs of jobseekers and employers.
